Each year, SAI Global and Strategic Management Services focus on the state of healthcare compliance programs in an industry benchmark survey of programs in the US.

This annual survey is designed to gain an understanding of issues currently confronting compliance programs and how compliance officers are responding to them. Data were collected from respondents at hospitals, home health agencies, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, among others.

Former HHS Inspector General, Richard Kusserow, CEO of Strategic Management Services, reports results and provides analysis of the data from the survey, including important trending data from prior surveys. 

Specific issue areas addressed in the results of the Survey include:

  • Budget expectations and staffing levels 
  • Encounters with regulatory and enforcement agencies and questions related to DOJ 2020 Guidelines
  • The impact of Covid-19 and vaccination management

Richard Kusserow served as DHHS Inspector General for 11 years and upon retirement form Strategic Management, a pioneer in health care compliance that has assisted over 2,000 thousands of health care organizations with compliance advisory services, including compliance program development, evaluation, training programs, hotline setup, risk assessments, claims data analysis, assistance with the CIA requirements, IRO duties, and litigation support.  Strategic Management also operates the Compliance Resource Center (CRC) that provides tools for compliance officers, including hotline services, policy development, e-learning, sanction-screen, and compliance surveys.
